.

I am super excited to announce that one of my prints has been chosen again this year to be a part of the Art of the Auction at the North Carolina Museum of Art!

Last year was the first year I was a part of this, and let me tell you, it is quite a thrill to see one of your pieces hanging in an art museum.

I sent in three submissions, and this is the one they chose:

“He Loves Me”

16×16 Fine Art Framed Print

More details to come if you are interested in joining me at the North Carolina Museum of Art!

Carolina Kidney Kids Inaugural Fundraiser | Raleigh Cary Apex Portrait Event Photography

Although it was a a last minute request to photograph this event, I was thrilled to be able to donate my time to the Carolina Kidney Kids Foundation, and their inaugural fundraiser.  The event exceeded expectations by far, which now that I’ve met Larissa, I can understand why!

I was lucky enough to talk with Larissa, and hear her inspiring story of her son Ryan and his struggles & survival, the story that motivated her to begin this journey.  Larissa is an amazing woman.  She, along with the UNC Kidney Center, are forming this group to offer support, education & financial assistance to families.  The type of support that she was unable to find when she was going through the tough times with her son.  She wants to make sure others have better resources, better information and support if and when they need it.  People like this truly inspire me to be a better person, and to give back as much as I can to my community.

Their mission statement : “At Carolina Kidney Kids we commit to providing the gift of life through education, financial assistance and emotional support to the patient, the donor and their families.”

Congratulations & great luck on this journey Larissa – you are an inspiration to us all!

Valentine’s Day Mini-Sessions 2012! | Raleigh Cary Apex Family Child Photographer

This mild winter weather makes me want to take pictures!

Not only are mini-sessions are a great way to try out custom photography, they are an easy & economical way to update your chil and/or family photos.  Think about how happy Grandma will be to get a new photo of your little darling!  Think about how thrilled your little darling will be to hand out a valentine with his or her PHOTO on it!  Simply attach to a gift bag of candy and they’ll be the star of the classroom 🙂

2011 *Best in Show* Winners! | Raleigh Cary Apex Triangle Portrait Family Photographer

What a great week it was on my Facebook fan page.  The 2011 *Best in Show* contest was spectacular – it was anyone’s game up until the very finish, a true nail biter!

Without further ado, the first place winner of a 16×20 Gallery Wrapped Canvas goes to the newborn twin image:

2nd place winner of a 12×18 mounted print goes to:

This image is perfect because they were literally running on the heels of the 1st place image!

And the third place 12×18 mounted print goes to :

A little tidbit about this shot : I knew I wanted a facial veil shot from above, so after one of the group shots I asked this bride to pull the veil over her face and squat a bit (she was an AWESOME bride)!  I snapped three or four and off we went to the next image!  It was breezy and I was so happy to have caught the veil in motion.

Thank you to those who participated in the contest, couldn’t have done it without you!

UP next – behind the scenes of a bridal portrait shoot AND next weekend I will be shooting beauty shots at a local hair salon – super excited about it.  We will be designing large wall displays for her salon.  I will be sure to share my lighting set-up(s) and all the prep that is going into this big shoot, as well as tid-bits on the wall design once we get to that point.

Have a great weekend!
