{ Lisa } Preview | Raleigh Beauty & Boudoir Photographer

Last night we met for happy hour & Lisa’s highly anticipated image reveal!  Nerves were high & I am not sure who was more excited!

We lifted our glasses for a toast,  and began her slideshow.

I heard a few “is that really me” and ” I absolutely love this”.  Love to hear those words.

I have the thumbs up to blog her session (yeah!!), and that will be coming very very soon – hopefully on my new Beauty & Boudoir site that is almost finished!

A beautiful woman & a gorgeous portrait.

It’s in the eyes and I get chills when I get connection like this…

I’ll be back soon with more!

Ocracoke 2012

.

Every year, for my birthday, we make a family pilgrimage to one of the best spots on Earth.  If we’re lucky we make it twice in the same year.

Friday we woke the kids before sunrise, and began our 3 hour trek to the ferry.  It’s exciting, and we all love it!

Upon arrival to the ferry I pulled out my camera (well, yah!) only to discover that my favorite work horse lens wasn’t working.  I panicked, thinking how could I make this trip without a camera? I don’t have an iPhone (yet), so that’s not an option for me.

I then discovered & remembered that in the rush of packing I had in fact put my oldest lens in the camera bag.  Yup, the one that came with my original camera several years ago.  Thank goodness, although she doesn’t take sharp pics as I like.  But that’s okay.  I learned to let go and I think I took more pics than usual this year just because of it!

Sunset on Ocracoke Island.  Life IS good.

Looking forward to lots of fall shoots coming up this month & next – whoo hooo!

It has been a summer of reconnecting.  Yet again I have to thank Facebook for connecting me with one of my closest friends from high school, with whom I lost touch with over the years, as people do.

Come to find out my friend travels to NC every summer for the beach, and when she contacted me to photograph her family I excitedly said YES!

.

She & her boys were real troopers – not only was it H O T outside, but they had driven over seven hours to get to the beach the same day of their session!

Sweet boys

I think this one is my favorite!

She seriously hasn’t changed (or aged for that matter) a bit!

A fun set-up …

Here’s the first attempt at the shot above … boys will be BOYS lol!

Play time!

They were pretty tired and somewhat over me, but I managed to get a few handsome smiles out of them :)

Thanks so much for sharing your precious family with me – can’t wait for next year!

Fun Family Reunion! | Raleigh Cary Atlantic Beach Family Photographer

.

I was so thrilled when my dear roommate from years gone past asked me to meet her & her family at the beach this summer for her family reunion!  Yes, this has been in the plans for over six months now , &  I hadn’t seen my friend in 18+ years!  (Ahh the wonders of Facebook!)

My family and I drove in on a Friday midday, to meet this family on the beach in the late afternoon.  As soon as we crossed the first waterway, I couldn’t help but notice the flags whipping in the wind.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the wind, but perhaps not as much when it is ‘whipping’!

We managed by utilizing lots of bobby pins and repositioning the long haired ladies so their hair wouldn’t be covering their faces!  A HUGE thank you to my unexpected and absolutely treasured assistant Jo for being my second set of eyes and hands.  Couldn’t have done it without you Jo!

Here are a few of my favorite images from that windy and wild afternoon on the beach:
