A Warm NC Weekend | Raleigh Portrait Photography

In the midst of the throttles of the busy season, I decided to step away from the computer this past weekend & enjoy some time off with my family.  Although I am a bit behind on my blogging, my client galleries and orders are right on time so no guilt there!  Plus, I needed a little mind & spirit rejuvination, and now I feel ready for the home stretch to the holidays.

Saturday we scored five tickets and a parking pass to an NC State football game.  Our alma mater and a household favorite team, of course!

I couldn’t believe the weather forecast – I was more excited about that than anything!  In the 70’s and sunny.  Windows open & short on!

There is nothing sweeter than a warm fall day and the aroma and brilliance of fall leaves.  And tailgating for a football game.

Good gosh I love it!

Here are a few snaps from the weekend…

GO WOLFPACK!!

So that was Saturday.  Fun fun.

Sunday was  an all around delightful day.  Yard work and outdoor chores.  Even the dog got a bath :)

.

Sunday afternoon I told the kiddos to invite however many friends they wanted to come over and play.  They ran around outside for hours.  We grilled hot dogs & sausages.  When dusk came we loaded the fire pit and roasted marshmallows.  I took zero pictures.  I simply enjoyed the chatter and laughter of the evening.

I hope you had a great weekend & I will do my best to blog more sessions very soon!

Ocracoke 2012

.

Every year, for my birthday, we make a family pilgrimage to one of the best spots on Earth.  If we’re lucky we make it twice in the same year.

Friday we woke the kids before sunrise, and began our 3 hour trek to the ferry.  It’s exciting, and we all love it!

Upon arrival to the ferry I pulled out my camera (well, yah!) only to discover that my favorite work horse lens wasn’t working.  I panicked, thinking how could I make this trip without a camera? I don’t have an iPhone (yet), so that’s not an option for me.

I then discovered & remembered that in the rush of packing I had in fact put my oldest lens in the camera bag.  Yup, the one that came with my original camera several years ago.  Thank goodness, although she doesn’t take sharp pics as I like.  But that’s okay.  I learned to let go and I think I took more pics than usual this year just because of it!

Sunset on Ocracoke Island.  Life IS good.

Looking forward to lots of fall shoots coming up this month & next – whoo hooo!

Hello there!  I am still here.  With lots to share soon.

Took a break these past two weeks to take care of some personal business before the mad rush of fall & holidays arrives.   I do still have some spaces open for mini-sessions so please contact me if you are interested!

.

This site is in the process of being upgraded & changed, and I am super excited about it!  Please bear with me, especially those of you that have signed up for email updates.  All will be rosey within the next two weeks.

.

During my short break, my son turned eleven.  He started middle school this year, and I couldn’t be any prouder of him & how he is embracing the early mornings and extra homework.  Sure does make the weekends that much sweeter!

With the change of schools has come a change of style.  He is 100% all about polo shirts & plaid shorts.  I bought him a hat for his birthday, and you would’ve thought he’d won the lottery!

I finally dragged him outside this week for his eleven year old shoot, with his new hat.  You can tell by the first photo he wasn’t quite in the mood.  However, a little potty humor goes a long way & I managed to capture some images of him that I will always treasure.

In under five minutes :)

Have a great weekend & I’ll see you here next week!

I’m Still Here! | Raleigh Cary Portrait Photographer

Hello!  I hope your summer is going well and you are enjoying all of summer’s simple pleasures – pool time, ice cold lemonade & lots of sunshine!

I have recently experienced a hard drive crash, and am digging out from the ruins.  Luckily part of my business structure includes a solid back up plan, so nothing was lost.  I am quite proud (and relieved) of that!

However, it has been like starting over – having to reinstall programs and recall many many passwords.

Almost there.

(I’ve been feeding my hibiscus my leftover coffee in the morning, and it has never been happier … lol!)

.

I still have summer beach session images to share, and a large family beach session to shoot this coming weekend!

Coming up : Several boudoir photo shoots on the books for August & September & I will announce dates and rates for FALL mini-sessions.

YUP it’s time to plan your holiday photos!!

AND this blogsite is on schedule for a facelift – can’t wait!

Have a great week & see you back here soon.

Summertime! | Raleigh Cary Family Lifestyle Photographer

Hi ho!  I am still here … my apologies for being absent.  The last week was filled to the brim with end of year school activities and sports.  I have a lot to share!  I also am prepping the boudoir blog posts today, so please check back soon to see three stunning & sultry women here on my site.

My girls.

I was outside picking garden veggies (we have amazing yellow squash this year!) when my hubby brought them home from the pool.  It’s not very often that my girls are giggling and really enjoying each other (one is 13, remember?!) so I grabbed my camera an had them lay on the sidewalk.

I cherish these images, and it just goes to show that you don’t have to be all dressed up, or even showered, to have images you love !

Happy Sunday
