My Son, All Dressed Up | A Slice of Life | Raleigh Cary Lifestyle Portrait Photography

My son completed his first year of Cotillion.  With this achievement comes the grand ball!  All the little girls dressed in white dresses and gloves, and all the little boys in tuxedos.

You better believe I made time for a short session with him … I LOVE a little man in a tux (especially my own!)

Here’s a few of my favorites, and even one of me all dressed up too …

(have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my 85mm lens?  Oh my. Hello creamy background)

Work it son, work it! (As much fun for me as for him I tell you!)

Oh, those eyes.

Don’t we look cute all matched up?!

We were supposed to meet up with his two buddies beforehand for photos.  I had scouted the perfect location for group shots that morning, and was super excited about it.  Unfortunately they were delayed (wardrobe malfunctions!), so we met them at the country club instead.

Of course we stopped on our way and snapped a few at this fabulous location:

Met up with his pals for some super quick photos before they went in …

Ah.  Boys being boys.  So good!!

In the process of designing an album, as much for me as for him. Will share when it is done.

Have a great day!

Cotillion Boys | Raleigh Cary Lifestyle Portrait Photography

Last night was the grand finale of the year of Cotillion for my son and his two buddies, the Cotillion ball.  I’ve seen my son in a tux one other time, and I’ll be honest, it gives me goose bumps and tears at the same time!  We did a session together, which I will most definitely write about.  For now, here’s one of the three of them that makes me smile a LOT!

Have a great Friday!

Leap Day 2012 |

Had BIG plans for a neat photo idea today, but got rained out.

Pretty happy, though,  with my last minute pre-bedtime snap … what do you do with kids that beg to jump on the bed this special day , ” Mom, we’ll make it a tradition every four years.”  Smile.

A Slice of Life | My Own | Raleigh Portrait Family Photographer

I normally don’t share too many images of my own here, as I want to spotlight my clients.  I have decided to change that just a bit (perhaps once or twice a month), as I think it is not only a good way for you to get to know me, but a great way to see what images really make my heart sing!  As my business grows, my own family is subject to my camera less and less.  I don’t want to stop taking their pictures.  I want to have the memories and moments ‘on film’ to treasure, as I know they surely will some day too!

We packed a kayak and a picnic, and headed to a local lake to enjoy a refreshing 65 degree day!  My children surely are at their best when we are outdoors and away from all of the distractions of every day life.  Everyone is happy, which makes me happy.

Whether it’s the expression, the lighting, the composition or just the moment, these are all photos that make me smile.

My youngest.  Still loves to have her photo taken (yay for me!).  So we went on a stroll, just the two of us …

.

She found this log and wanted to use it as her scene :)

.

I love her because she made me give her the camera, so she could take a photo of me.  I may have bedhead and bags under my eyes, but I LOVE this shot of me

Thanks for reading – hope you liked this post.
