Nags Head Pier Family Pictures | Raleigh Cary Family Portrait Photographer

New on my bucket list is to have more pictures of me and my family. Me with my kiddos.  Yes, I am not photogenic and don’t necessarily like to have my photo taken.  However, I am only getting older as my children are (every so quickly).  It’s time to capture these moments, and I am SO glad we have these:

Yes, I have a family picture but I am saving it for our Christmas card, so you’ll have to wait!

It’s a lovely old pier … only the happiest people in the world walk on it (is what the sign says)

Getting ready to share some ‘glimpses’ from this past weekend’s Saturday double header photo shoot … think yoga and giggling family!

She Wants to Surf | Raleigh Portrait Photographer

Every year for my birthday we head to the Outerbanks of NC.  Usually Ocracoke Island, but this year we headed to Nags Head.  It was a nice break – a nice way to charge my battery before this busy season.  Also nice to focus my camera on my own family.  I will share some of my favorites with you over the next few posts.

My oldest – born in Hawaii, lover of the ocean and meant to surf!  One of these days we’ll get some lessons and a board, but for now it’s the boogie board for her:

It was such a beautiful day … the Nags Head Pier seemed to shine!

And this skim boarder was just too fun to watch!

Have a great evening~

Day Wedding | Raleigh Cary Apex Durham Wedding Photographer

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to assist a very talented photographer and friend, Todd Nichols, with the wedding of Pat Day’s daughter.  I was beyond thrilled for this opportunity, as Pat Day is an icon in Kentucky and all around the world.  Pat Day is a widely known horse jockey that among his accomplishments,  has ridden winners of the U.S. Triple Crown nine times.  (He  always got my wager at Churchill Downs!)

The wedding & ceremony were held at the breathtaking Brown Hotel in downtown Louisville, in the heart of the Theater district.  This venue was a photographers dream.

The majority of the day I toted cameras and bags, switched lenses and set up lighting.  I absorbed so much invaluable information watching a seasoned wedding pro at work.  I had a few opportunities to shoot, one of which was this special moment before Pat walked his daughter down the isle.

A father’s smile of anticipation &  a blushing bride.

Exiting the ceremony, as husband and wife!

I also snapped a few during the reception.  This one is my favorite.  Pat and his lovely mother … she could cut a rug alright!

Dancing the night away!

I have one more wedding experience this month.  In three weeks I will be second shooting with  the uber talented Rachel Durik of Savor Photography with a wedding at the Ritz Carlton in Naples, Florida.  It will be a beach ceremony, and if any of you reading this know me, you KNOW I love to shoot on the beach.  And the fact that it’s a wedding takes it over the top for me!  Can’t wait to capture some amazing moments for this couple.

November will bring my very first wedding,  that I’m shooting  in Greensboro, NC.  I have been preparing for this for a year now … it is mind-boggling to believe it is almost here! I am so ready that I wish it was this weekend – but I’m sure if I blink a few more times it will be here.

Have a great hump day
